Mrs. Alex Ireland, 96, died Saturday morning at Bethel Convalescent home, at Arpin. Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran church, Dancy, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock and burial was made in the Knowlton cemetery. 
 

Matilda Jahn was born in Berlin, Germany, Nov. 12, 1860, and came to the United States at the age of nine. After five years in Scranton, Pa., she came, with her parents, to Oshkosh and then to Wausau. For a time, she lived in Abbotsford where she was a member of Christ Lutheran church and at one time served as president of the Ladies’ Aid. 
 

Her first husband, Joseph Hibbard, died in 1917. In 1923, she married Alex Ireland, of Abbotsford, who died May 10, 1949, at Wausau. 
 

After his death, Mrs. Ireland made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Hoffman, Abbotsford, until the past few months when she was taken to Arpin after being hospitalized at Wausau. 
 

Surviving are her daughter and one son, Earl Hibbard, Knowlton. There are four grand children and 11 great grand children. Two daughters preceded her in death.
